Sherri Shepherd
Sherri Shepherd is an American comedian, actor author, television personality who is well-known for her role as co-host of the popular daytime talk show "The View," and also for her appearances on several popular sitcoms.Shepherd was born on April 22, 1967 in Chicago, Illinois. She is the daughter LaVerne Shepherd, and Lawrence Shepherd. Her father was a deacon at the church that was part of the family. She also managed restaurants while her mother cleaned houses. Shepherd is the oldest of the three children. She attended Hoffman High School.While working as a legal secretary in Beverly Hills, Shepherd began performing stand-up comedy. After being cast in "Cleghorne", a short-lived comedy about entertainment, she took the decision to quit her job to take on a new career as entertainer. The show aired for a single season on The WB network in 1995. Shepherd was in financial difficulties due to the show's cancellation. She was forced to live in friends' homes for a year while she looked for more work.In 1996 she was a part of Jaime Foxx's sitcom "The Jaime Foxx Show," that she remained an actor on until 2001. She also got regular roles on "Suddenly Susan" and "Everybody Loves Raymond" in the late 1990s.
